The Drum hosts new writing from visiting companies and the majority of our produced and co-produced work. With a maximum of 175 seats it offers a more intimate theatre experience with an arguably more experimental programme. Companies that visit us regularly include Chris Goode, Nabakov, Stuff and Nonsense, Theatre Alibi and The Wrong Crowd. Regular co-producers include Ontroerend Goed, Told by an Idiot, The Royal Court, Paines Plough and Frantic Assembly.
The Drum is a flexible performance space with up to 175 seats and several different layouts including end on, promenade, traverse parallel, cabaret, thrust (3 sides) and round. There are two wheelchair spaces in The Drum.
The Theatre is located at the West End of Royal Parade in the city centre and contains our three auditoria; The Lyric, The Drum and The Lab. The Theatre is approximately 15 minutes walk from the train station and 10 minutes walk from the bus station – although most local buses stop on Royal Parade.
