Pitch Lake is thought to be the largest deposit of natural asphalt in the world. The lake is a mix of viscous tar on which birds can stand gazing out at the green bush which surrounds it, and hot water in which they can bathe. It is said that Pitch Lake's water can cure any ailment.

Pitch Lake is located in La Brae, south west Trinidad. La Brae means 'pitch' in Spanish and the vuillage is one of the most affluent in Trinidad and Tobago.
