Seemia Theatre

Seemia Theatre are an award-winning international theatre ensemble led by female Iranian director, Sara Amini. As an ensemble, we are dedicated to sharing stories that ought to be heard. We endeavour to connect the performers and audience with current issues in society fusing physical theatre, musicality, poetic text and storytelling.
Seemia was originally established in 2012 by Artistic Director Sara Amini and performer Maryam Davari. In October 2015 following 8 months of training with acclaimed Polish theatre company, Song of the Goat, Seemia re-formed as a new ensemble. In 2017, they were selected to be mentored by Tangled Feet. From the native Persian, Seemia translates as ‘Casting a spell with words’, true to it’s word, Seemia's current production, Evros, is an extremely spellbinding show. During their run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2018, Seemia were awarded the Summerhall Lustrum (Golden Horn) Award, with Evros being one of the greatest moments of the festival programme.
