MissyMya Entertainment – a rather fun-centric company.

The company’s first production was a solo comedy ‘The Dateless Wonder,’ Written and Performed by Anjali Mya Chadha. Produced by Salema Khanum, Supported by the Watermans Art Centre.

The Dateless Wonder is a cross cultural piece using weddings as a guide to breaking down perceived cultural barriers. Anjali combines a humorous style of storytelling; observational humour, a range of eccentric characters to guide the audience through an English wedding from her own unique standpoint.

The show toured nationally and was nomination for the Meyer Whitworth Award – the largest monetary prize for playwriting in the UK.

MissyMya Entertainment is also working with Caitlin Power, developing her current solo piece ‘Flush.’

The Company also run a training course titled: ME, MYSELF & I – Creating work from yourself, by yourself for yourself. It guides and empowers writer/performers to become full time self-sufficient working and earning artists. It is currently taught at the actor’s centre, where Caitlin and MissyMya first began collaborating. .

MissyMya Are:

Anjali Mya Chadha – Creative Director. Anjali Mya Chadha has a successful track record in comedy. She has appeared in award winning shows including 'Little Britain' and 'Webb & Mitchell', and has recently finished filming for Matt Lucas's new sitcom 'Pompidou’. After creating and touring 'The Dateless Wonder,' she then went on to work as a storyline associate in the British Teen Soap 'Hollyoaks'. Anjali is a much sort after social commentator and can often be heard on a wide variety of radio talk shows. She is a regular guest panellist for the BBC Asian Network.

Anjali – “I want to create the kind of work I want to see as an audience member; but most importantly work I’d love to audition for but isn’t out there.”

Salema Khanum – Creative Producer Since graduating in European Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College, Salema has gone on to work with a selection of prestigious venues and companies ensuring she embraces every project with her genuine passion for live performance. Having spent 4 years working as Head of Asian Arts Development at Watermans Arts Centre she realised her natural skills lay in developing new talent across mediums, supporting artists across the board from RnD to fundraising to touring nationally.

She has international experience having worked with HERE arts center in SoHo New York and Seoul Fringe Festival, before continuing her arts development work as the Cultural Programme Manager for Asia House. Having worked with new writers and creatives she hopes to continue nurturing new talent and ensuring the voices of those largely under represented are heard.
