The Diary of a Bury Boy or Girl - young people's responses to the Diary of a Hounslow Girl on tour
Filmed in partnership between the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds and YMCA Suffolk.
Young people created a showreel of their diaries and experiences that were showcased at the launch of Black Theatre Live's national tour of The Diary of a Hounslow Girl.
Following a series of outreach workshops run with the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds' team, the young people reflected on the drama in the play and told of their own aspirations, and sense of identity and place in rural Suffolk. This was by contrast to Shahida the young Muslim teenager from urban Hounslow in London whose story was told in the solo-show.. The young people's powerful, impassioned and eloquent responses included creative writing, animation, poetry, film-making and a visual art installation.
Below is the showreel which highlights the diverse group of young people's responses to the play in their compilation - The Diary of a Bury Boy or Girl.
