The Theatre Royal Margate dates back to 1787 and is the 2nd oldest working theatre in the country. The Grade 11 listed  Georgian building plays host to an exciting, diverse programme of theatre, comedy, dance and music and is delighted to be working with the  Black Theatre Live Consortium.

Theatre Royal Margate has attracted tours from companies like Paines Plough, Strangeface, Clod Ensemble and Mid Wales Opera, as well as opening the national and international tour of Shakespeare’s Globe for the last 3 years.  New partnerships with Fuel Theatre, as part of their New Theatres in your Neighbourhood scheme, and collaborative working with local organisations such as Turner Contemporary, Ramsgate Arts, the Tom Thumb Theatre and KCC Arts and Libraries are helping to secure the Theatre’s rightful position in the heart of Margate’s arts loving community.

Now managed by Your Leisure Kent Ltd, who also manage the nearby Margate Winter Gardens, the future of the Theatre Royal is looking brighter than ever.
