FRESHLY SCRATCHED CALL OUT - Battersea Arts Centre
14 April 2016
Freshly Scratched is for artists and companies who have never worked professionally at Battersea Arts Centre before.
The next Freshly Scratched takes place 5 – 10 Jul 2016.
Created by Battersea Arts Centre fifteen years ago, and subsequently adopted and adapted all over the world, Scratch is about testing ideas. As well as being a process, it is a way of thinking that embraces experiment and learning. In a theatre context, Scratch means artists sharing work with an audience at various different stages of its development. Audiences then help enrich the work through their immediate response, through feedback and sometimes through getting involved and creating the work themselves
Most of the artists we work with are people we have pre-existing relationships with – and we have usually seen their work outside of Battersea Arts Centre.
Freshly Scratched is different. It is for artists and companies who have never worked professionally at Battersea Arts Centre before, whose work we don’t know, and who are interested in using the Scratch process to try out new ideas in front of an audience and to get feedback from them.
It is the only time in the year when we programme purely on the basis of paper applications without having seen artists’ work.
Deadline for Applications: Monday 16 May at 12pm
