COMPLICITE: Call for participants: everything that rises must dance
12 May 2017
Dates: Mon 3 - Sat 15 July 2017
Venue: Stone Nest, London
everything that rises must dance is a participatory dance piece for 200 women of all backgrounds, ages and abilities. The performance is a celebration of female relationships, an ode to the way women have danced throughout history, and a living archive of contemporary female movement.
Created by choreographer Sasha Milavic Davies and composer Lucy Railton, an early version of the work was awarded the Jerwood Choreographic Research Prize, and Complicite is now supporting them as they explore their ideas for the work further.
To do this, Complicite is looking for 50 women to develop the piece. This will include a programme of free-to-attend classes given by leading dance practitioners and a series of talks and discussions on the themes of the piece. The opportunity is open to anyone over 18 who identifies as a woman and no dancing experience is required.
