Charmaine is a theatre maker and musician who strives for inclusivity and honesty in her work. Her theatre work so far has been inspired by clown, movement, storytelling and music.
After years working as a professional singer/songwriter with band MootZoot, Charmaine returned to theatre - first as a stage manager, then studied Devising Theatre and Performance at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA), graduating in 2014. She has since made her debut solo show, Scarlet Shambles: It Used to be Me, (Edinburgh Fringe 2015) and co-starred in Deafinitely Theatre’s bilingual production of ‘Grounded’ at the Park Theatre.
Charmaine’s interest in inclusivity and accessinility in theatre comes from her background as a child of Deaf adults. British Sign Language (BSL) is her first language and is incorporated into Scarlet’s Performace, adding another vivid visual language.
