Black Theatre Live was a pioneering touring scheme led by Tara Arts, committed to effecting change nationally for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic touring theatre through a sustainable 3-year programme of national touring, structural support and audience development. Its touring partners were Derby Theatre, Queen's Hall Arts (Hexham), Lighthouse (Poole), Theatre Royal Bury St. Edmunds, Theatre Royal Margate, Stratford Circus Arts Centre (London), Key Theatre (Peterborough), in addition to Tara Arts.

It's productions included: the UK's first all-Asian Macbeth directed by Jatinder Verma; She Called Me Mother starring BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee Cathy Tyson; award winning The Diary of a Hounslow Girl; the UK's first all-black Hamlet in 2016;  An Evening With An Immigrant with Inua Ellams; Big Foot and Mountains - The Dreams of Lily Kwok the UK's first-ever British East Asian mid-scale national tour.

Over the 3 years of BTL's operation, we produced 7 shows (3 mid-scale & 4 small-scale), toured 29 venues, giving 270 performances, and reached over 36,000 live audiences and a further 25,700 digitally.
